                   AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING ALLEYS
                   LOCATED NORTHEAST FROM WEST 18TH STREET
                   SOUTHEAST OF BROAD STREET, AND NORTHWEST FROM
                   COWART STREET NORTHEAST OF WEST 18TH STREET,
                   MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS SHOWN ON THE
                   ATTACHED APPLICATION, MORE PARTICULARLY
                   DESCRIBED HEREIN, UPON CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

              	   SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
         CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That there be and is hereby 
closed
         and abandoned alleys located northeast from West 18th Street
         southeast of Broad street, and Northwest from Cowart Street
         northeast of West 18th Street, more particularly described 
herein,
         and as shown on plat attached hereto and made a part hereof by
         reference:
                   A 10 foot wide alleyway beginning on the
                   northeast line of West 18th Street some 111
                   feet southeast of the intersection of the
                   northeast line of West 18th Street with the
                   southeast line of Broad Street (as now
                   widened), thence northeast 154 feet parallel to
                   Broad Street to the northeast line of a 14 foot
                   alleyway, thence southeast 10 feet with said 14
                   foot alleyway, thence southwest 154 feet
                   parallel to Broad Street to the northeast line
                   of West 18th Street, thence northwest 10 feet
                   with West 18th Street to the point of
                   beginning.
                   A 14 foot wide alleyway beginning on the
                   northwest line of Cowart Street 140 feet
                   northeast of the intersection of the northwest
                   line of Cowart Street with the northeast line
                   of West 18th Street, thence northwest 135 feet
                   parallel to West 18th Street to the southeast
                   line of a 10 foot alleyway, thence northeast 14
                   feet with said 10 foot alleyway, thence
                   northeast 14 feet with said 10 foot alleyway,
                   thence southeast 135 feet parallel to West 18th
                   Street to the northwest line of Cowart Street,
                   thence southwest 14 feet with Cowart Street to
                   the point of beginning.  Tax Map No. 145K-L-1.
                  
                  
              	   SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this closure
         and abandonment is made subject to the following conditions:
                  
                   1.  Reservation of an easement the width of the
                       right-of-way for South Central Bell for the
                       purpose of operating and maintaining its
                       facilities in said right-of-way.
                      
                   2.  The areas reserved for utility easements
                       must be kept free and clear of all
                       structures.
                  
                   3.  All existing easements are retained.
                  
              	   SECTION 3.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this 
Ordinance
         shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage as 
provided
         by law.
